Heritage Transport Expo ‘26

Sat & Sun 10/11 October 2026

10am to 4.30pm

Lots of trains, cars and buses over both days!

Saturday will see Bluebird Kestrel taking visitors for rides, while Sunday the Redhens will be out for rides. Steam loco BUB will be doing the small train rides during both days.

The Bus Preservation Association of SA will have four classic buses on display – two of which will be taking visitors for short rides around the streets of Port Adelaide. Additionally there will be several classic motor vehicles on show over the weekend.

ALL big and small train and bus rides are included with admission.

Kindred organisation Clipper Ship City of Adelaide will have a stall/display.

Catering will be available – Rotary West Lakes in the 1947 Café Car, and Prospect Scouts with their BBQ!

2026 Annual General Meeting

This will be the Annual General Meeting for the financial year ending 30 June 2026.

The Annual Report, including the Financial Auditor’s Report will be tabled for endorsement.

The usual General Meeting for September will follow the AGM.

Entertainment after a short break will be presented by Bob Sampson. He will be showing numerous b&w images from the 1980s. All members and friends most welcome to attend.

The NRM is pleased to announce its proposed events for 2026, and we have a cracker of a year lined up for you! A PDF of the event flyer can be found below:

Program Events DL 2026

On Sunday 19th April, we have our annual BUB’s Birthday Party, for our little blue steam engine BUB, which will be running that day. There will also be free gifts for all children under the age of 8, song and dance with Cool 4 Kids, and Dig a Dino providing fun activities. The Redhens will be running, there will be a CFS display, and we’ll have a Scouts BBQ and Rotary in the Cafe Car serving food. 

For History Festival in May, on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th, we’re running our usual Behind Closed Doors event with several rolling stock items open for tours but this year it’s also a Drivers Experience weekend! Some people from the Steampunk and Cosplay fraternities will be around too adding atmosphere and fun, and there will be a BBQ by Scouts, with Rotary in the Cafe Car. 

Our Family Fun Fair is on Thursday 16th July to Sunday 19th July inclusive. With BUB and BILL running each day, plus the Redhens operating for all four days, Cool 4 Kids, Dig a Dino, Fritz the Clown and food with Scouts and Rotary, it promises to be a fantastic experience!

This year is the centenary of Webb’s Engines 702 and 504. We’re celebrating on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August with special films showing in the theatrette, models from kindred organisations, BUB or BILL running, 801 and 376 operating and the Scouts BBQ plus Rotary in the Cafe Car. This is a great opportunity to see a range of different models on display!

Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September is a Drivers Experience weekend. BUB will be running both days, and with the Bluebird running Saturday and Redhens operating Sunday, it will be a different experience each day! Drivers Experience days also include passenger rides on the operating trains. 

Our final event for the year is the Heritage Transport Expo in October. On Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th, we’ll be showcasing displays from different kindred organisations, have heritage buses on display and bus rides around the Port, and will also be running the Bluebird on the Saturday and the Redhens on the Sunday. With the usual great catering from Scouts and Rotary, it’s going to be an excellent weekend. 

As in the past, as we approach each event, more details will be posted. The Drivers Experience events will also be advertised in advance, but bookings will not be possible until the opening date for each occasion…usually about 6 weeks before the event.
