How much does it cost to enter the National Railway Museum?

Adult: $19

Concession: $12

Child: 5-15 yrs $7 (must be accompanied by an adult)

When is the National Railway Museum open?

We’re open 10am to 4:30pm every day, except ANZAC Day (open from 12pm) and Christmas Day (closed).

 

Is the Semaphore Train running?

The Semaphore Train runs:

Every Sunday and Public Holiday from October to April (inclusive)

Daily during school holidays in October and April, except Tuesdays and Thursdays

Daily from 26th December to the end of January school holidays

Steam trains will depart between 11am and 4pm, about every hour or at frequencies varied according to demand

 

What can I do at the National Railway Museum?

At the National Railway Museum you can ride the small train around the site, play on the train simulator, learn about the history of railways across Australia, watch the model trains run around the layout, see what different tools feel like, hear noises from the past and from animals that used to ride on the trains, watch videos, and learn what all the levers and pieces of the T class locomotive do.

On special event days, there may also be entertainment and big trains running.

 

How long is the train ride?

The train ride around the museum lasts seven minutes. The train ride at Semaphore and Fort Glanville lasts about 30-45 minutes.

Rides on the big trains at events last about 10 minutes.

 

How long does it take to go around the National Railway Museum?

Average visit time is 1.5 hours.
