Developed in the mid-1990s, the NR class locomotives were the first ‘go anywhere, do anything’ locomotive design to cover the width of Australia from Brisbane to Perth.
Since their introduction they have covered millions of kilometres across the country and have had a lasting influence still reflected in locomotives being built today.
The NR Story details the reasons leading to their development, their testing and introduction to service from the perspective of those intimately involved, particularly the drivers.
